Weekly Reflections 1 (20th March 2024)
Who
is the LEADER?
Week
1;
for the first time we met with our lecturer Prof. DR. Yusof Boon for this
subject Dynamic of Leadership (UHPS) during this week 1 face to face. Generally,
there was icebreaking session between the students and Prof Yusof. Besides,
there was information and discussion with Prof. Yusof regarding leadership.
Prof ended the class with a great question, WHO IS THE LEADER?
I will reflect this week 1 by explaining
me as a leader. I divided myself into 4 roles as a human being, I as a family-oriented
woman, as an Occupational Therapist that run my own Rehabilitation Clinic, as a
speaker and leader in a community organization and lastly as a Master’s
student.
Leader
as a family-oriented woman; I am a wife, I need to co-lead the
family with my husband. We need to set good example to our 8 children and show
them what is good and how to be able to perform in life, most importantly life
after death. Us (my husband and I), both are the eldest, we play important
leadership toward both families; towards my parents, his parents, his siblings
and also my siblings. As a co-leader, we need to support each other, portray to
our family that we are in a same pathway for the family happiness. We did argue
in certain things, yet we able to come back with the best solution for our
families. So, am I a leader? Yes, I am human being, and I am a leader.
Leader
as an Occupational Therapist (OT); I am running my own Rehabilitation
Centre and I have staffs with me in order to give services to our patients. As
their leader, I need to lead them to be a better OT, showing them the best
services to be delivered to the patients, be integrated in our role as an OT
and able to work in the team. I am assertive towards my approach with my team,
yet in the same time they need to know the boundaries during working time. It
is important for us to let our team know each own responsibility, because as an
OT we are dealing with people. The patients need, health, safety and
confidentiality are important to be handle appropriately. If compared as a family-oriented
woman, this become my second priority and important in my life.
Leader
as a speaker and in community organization; I am also seeing
myself as a leader when I am doing a lecture during training or workshop. I
need to make sure, the participants understand and get a correct information
and knowledge from what I taught. It is my responsibility to delivery the valid
and functional knowledge to the participants, besides, make sure they doing the
right things after the training. Other than that, I am also leading a community
organization, especially those related with parent’s organization (NGOs). It is
important for me to make sure that my team to be able to have the same aims in the
organization. It is important for me to make sure our organization is
beneficial for the society. It is important to make sure we are in the right
pathways. Besides, it is important to make our members have beneficial activities
that can be participated every year in order to enhance knowledge, awareness
and connection within the organization. It is hard to be a leader in this
situation, yet with the great team it can make it easy for you to deliver and
by strengthening the bonding between team, will make the working situations and
moments will become great memories to all.
As a speaker, you are also a leader.
Lead people to gain knowledge and do better in their field.
With my AWESOME team in the community
organization.
Latest program with our AWESOME
community team.
Leader as a Master’s student; am I a leader? Yes surely, I am a leader, because I sometimes help other classmate to understand the information that been delivered by the lecturer. I also might help my classmate to do the group assignments, or even share ideas for our course assignments. I am a leader to encourage my family, my team, my friends, my community team and my classmate to become better person in every aspect that we are doing. As a leader, we need to do the best out of us in any situation.
I am officially a student
In a class discussion, every one of
us are leader. We need to lead the team so that I can participate and perform
the best out of us.
However, as a leader, it is ok for us to asking for help, to make mistake, to learn new things and to listen to other people ideas and options. In view of the fact that as a leader we want others to improve and success in their life too. We are great leader for me if we can improve and success together with the team, or the people around us.
In conclusion, for me as a human being we all are leaders. Allah created us to be the Khalifah for the Ummah, so that our human being, religion and nation can be in better position. Therefore, lets us to become and projected the best leadership in ourselves for the better future.
Sincere reflection from Azsyikin Jazuli <3
