Weekly Reflection 5: Leadership Behaviour

 Weekly Reflections 5 (24th April 2024)

 LEADERSHIP BEHAVIOUR

 Week 6; this week reflection is regarding the leadership behaviour. Question is, what is leadership behaviour? Is it different with none-leader behaviour? Today reflection I will explore on my leadership behaviour.

Theoretically, back in 1940’s a leadership researcher had shifted the point of view on looking this leadership issue from traits theory (which mainly the personality of the leaders) to behaviour (the actions or behaviour of the leaders) paradigm. Besides, it also focuses on what the leader will say to the people. Basically, as a leader, we are leading by example and it is important because the team members will always observe our words and actions, then they will imitate.

Setting an example is not the main means of influencing another, yet it is the only means – Albert Einstein

 This week reflection, I want to share my own experience regarding “leading by example”.

 First situation as a Leader-Mother;

            I have big responsibility to bring my followers (read as my 8 children) to be the best of them at any situations. My style and behaviour surely will be different follow with their needs and understandable. I am also need to be flexible when dealing with new era children in this 21st century. For that, I need to show them rather just talk and educate them. The way I manage my time, my day, and myself is important for them to see and manage themselves well. For example, in order to make them alert with the important of knowledge. Me myself will show how I enthuses in continue searching for knowledge at any situation. Besides, before I furthering my study, I asked my eldest children and discuss with them regarding me furthering study. The best when my eldest shared with “may be will go to get our scroll together”. It was precious moment for me.

            That is, I 100% agree that as a leader at any situation we need to behaviour and show to our followers, in order for them to learn and trust our leadership.

They always with me when I do my work, where I show and they learn.

 Second situation as a Leader in the community.

            We are always working to enhance community awareness and knowledge regarding the autism issues. We are always do community program to gather our community and support their needs. As a leader, I prefer to engage effectively and participate in the program from scratch until its successfully done. I want my team know that I with them in this journey, together and not only at the position. I want they to know that I exist for them to refer and discuss. I want to build the trust, so that it will be easier for us to do more activities in the future.

            As in quote in leadership “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”. So as a leader, choose where you want to go and focus on your aims.
